City May Spend $1.5M to Remove Ash Borer

The City of Highland Park may need to shell out $1.52 million over the next five years to remove trees that are expected to become infected with emerald ash borer.

The City of Highland Park may need to shell out $1.52 million over the next five years to remove trees that are expected to become infected with emerald ash borer, TribLocal reports. Highland Park has 4,125 ash trees trees on public parkway and about 2,000 more on publicly maintained areas like bicycle trails, according to TribLocal. The plan calls for removing all ash trees and replacing them with another kind, according to the Highland Park News. The newspaper reports that chemical treatment is not part of the plan.
