A Highland Park teenager who lives in the home allegedly invaded by Josh Norris and Joseph Mahoney of Deerfield and is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell will wait a little longer to learn if he will be indicted or face a preliminary hearing. Jacob Lynn, 17, of Highland Park was arrested by Highland Park Police Aug. 17 two weeks after Mahoney and Norris were charged with invading the Parkside Drive home where Lynn resides. Joseph Mahoney is scheduled for arraignment in Waukegan.
One of two Deerfield teenage criminal suspects charged as adults for burglaries in Highland Park and Deerfield makes his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Monday for a scheduled arraignment in Lake County Court in Waukegan. Joseph Mahoney and Josh Norris, both 17, of Deerfield were originally arrested August 3 for home invasion when they allegedly entered a Highland Park home on the 3000 block of Parkside. They were also charged with illegally entering a Deerfield residence August 2 to take the gun used in the August 3 events. Mahoney is scheduled to appear in court Monday. Norris first appeared in court August 15 when his case was continued to Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. in Waukegan, according to Assistant Lake County State’s Attorney Ari Fisz. …

Nearly a month after Joseph Mahoney and Josh Norris, both 17, of Deerfield were charged as adults in a Highland Park home invasion August 2, their relationship with one of the residents of the house as well as the source of the gun used has become known. On Friday, Deerfield Police told Patch Norris and Mahoney gained access to a Deerfield home through a ruse August 1, the right before the Highland Park burglary, to obtain the shot gun Mahoney used when he allegedly broke into the home on Parkside in Highland Park. Josh Norris and Joseph Mahoney used a ruse to gain entry to a Deerfield home and take a gun the night before the Highland Park home invasion, according to police.
Police say that the Deerfield teens who were charged with breaking into a Highland Park home Aug. 2 stole the shotgun used during the break-in the night before from a Deerfield home, In the gun case, Josh Norris and Joseph Mahoney were both charged Aug. 3 with residential burglary, a Class 1 Felony, and misdemeanor theft by Deerfield Police for allegedly taking the gun Mahoney used when entering the Highland Park home in the 3000 block of Parkside.
