Café Fleurette’s Croissant is a Must Try

Located in the Winnetka Metra station at Elm Street, the café serves traditional French baked goods.

Flaky is not a great word for people, but when it comes to croissants, it’s a must. And that’s exactly how the croissants at Winnetka’s Café Fleurette are.  Located in the Metra Station at 754 Elm St., Winnetka, the tiny bakery often sells out of the chocolate croissants by 7:30 a.m.  “It’s wonderful and exciting to stop in here and be able to pick up wonderful baked goods,” Winnetka Village President Jessica Tucker told Patch during the café’s grand opening in August. “When we were looking at bids from businesses we chose Café Fleurette because of its delicious, delicious menu. It’s different and not something already offered in town, plus she already sells goods at Northfield Farmers Market and has a following." See photos from the grand…

Schakowsky, Dold Agree on Energy Innovation But Little Else

Neighboring members of Congress express different views on most issues a few miles apart.

Stimulating innovation with alternative sources of energy may be the one issue where Democrats and Republicans in Congress can come to an agreement on legislation as neighboring members of Congress gave a similar message a few miles apart Sunday.  Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) and Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) expressed the same hope to diverse groups in New Trier Township Sunday.  “Why should we innovate when it comes to energy and buy the stuff from China to bring it back to the United States,” asked Schakowsky. “We should be building the wind turbines, we should be building the batteries, we should be making the things right here in America.”  While Schakowsky was presenting her ideas to more than 60 people attending a New Trier …
