All Four NorthShore University HealthSystem Hospitals Earn Top Marks For Safety

The Leapfrog Group gave the Glenbrook, Evanston, Skokie and Highland Park hospitals straight A's, the highest possible scores, in a new rating system.

NorthShore University HealthSystem hospitals in Evanston, Glenview, Highland Park and Skokie earned A grades in The Leapfrog Group’s semi-annual hospital safety reviews for the second time since last spring, according to a press release from the hospitals.  “These grades reflect the incredible work of our physicians and staff to make high-quality care and patient safety a priority at all four of our hospitals,” Ken Anderson, chief medical quality officer at NorthShore said in the release. “It’s what NorthShore University HealthSystem strives for each day, and we’re proud that all of our hospitals were able to maintain the ‘A’ grade.” According ot the release, only 30 percent of studied hospitalsreceived A grades during the fall period.  …

North Shore United Way (NSUW)--a local, independent United Way chapter and a member of the larger United Way of Metropolitan Chicago-- honored the organization's biggest supporters while taking a look into the future at its 2011 Annual Celebration Luncheon June 15 at Wildfire in Glenview. Representatives from several of NSUW's largest corporate supporters were on hand, including Tenneco, CVS Caremark and Northbrook Bank & Trust, as well as representatives from partner organizations and government officials including Rep. Daniel Biss. Couple's First Baby is Year's First at Highland Park Hospital

Born to Northbrook parents, Lindy L. Meng is first baby of 2011 at NorthShore University HealthSystem Highland Park Hospital.

Lindy L. Meng was born with a full head of thick black hair Jan. 1, three days late and just in time to be the first child of 2011 at NorthShore University HealthSystem Highland Park Hospital. First-time mother Di Li and her husband, Chulin Meng, came to the hospital early Saturday morning, hoping their daughter would arrive that afternoon. But the labor lasted well into the evening. "It was very long," said Li, who works as a statistician at Abbott Labs. Lindy was finally born at 11:50 p.m., measuring 21 ½ inches and weighing in at 9 pounds 8 ounces. Li and Meng, a librarian at Loyola University, named their daughter Lindy because the name combines parts of both of their first names—"lin" from Chulin and "dy" from Di. "We chose the name …
