Highland Park Resident Sues Winnetka Realtor Over $162K in Stolen Jewelry

Lena Katamanin claims the firm is responsible for the theft of more than $162,000 worth of jewelry from her home during an open house in April.

Highland Park resident Lena Katamanin is suing a Winnetka based real estate firm, claiming the firm is responsible for the theft of more than $162,000 worth of jewelry from her home during an open house in April, according to Winnetka Talk. Katamanin filed the suit Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court against Midwest Realty Ventures, LLC, Winnetka Talk reports. In the suit, Katamanin claims the brokerage had "sole control" over her Sheridan Road home during an open house on April 22 that ended with more than $162,000 of her jewelry missing. Highland Park Police were notified about the stolen jewelry in April, according to a May 1 police blotter. Police Blotter: Antennae Ripped Off Car, Cab Driver Allegedly Battered

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft Police are investigating the delayed report of a theft where a construction trailer parked on a jobsite was broken into sometime between March 29 at 4 p.m. and April 2 at 9 a.m. Taken were several power tools. A master lock pad lock was removed from the rear of the trailer to gain entry. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Spruce Avenue, Highland Park.
