ReplyThe teachers had a contract that expired in August. As part of that contract the teachers were told by senior administration to take further education and they would get whatever necessary credit toward to the next lane.
This is a ethical, moral, and legal issue. This isnt up for debate. They had a contract in writing that was agreed upon from the school board and the teachers.
Yes its pay, but its for education that was agreed upon.
The board is hiding this.....

ReplyFor every family that has a child that gets LD support, Speech support, or dual language put a sign in front of your lawn.
These teachers work beyond 8-5:00 and deserve your support.
To David Greenberg I have never seen or heard of such ignorant comments like you make.
To all those running for office in HP it is nice to see how you support the teachers as well.....

Reply29,882:
This is the current population of Highland Park, IL. Lets see how many families either leave or new ones dont move here because our community have not come together to support our education system and the individuals that education our children. There is no price or cost that we should limit to what a good and skilled teacher is worth. Lose these skilled and educated teachers and Highland Park no longer remains the desirable place to move to.
David Greenberg: Im not sure what you do for a living, but id like to know if you get a annual raise or are awarded options, or shares as a bonus. Remember you most likely receive other type of benefits that teacher do no receive.
The median income for a family was $137,703 in Highland Park, and Im assuming that every resident would rather allocate a few more dollars for our teachers than supporting the senior administrations of Highland Park from D112 and the Forest Preserve, etc...
PRESERVE AND PROTECT OUR TEACHERS. THEY CANT BE REPLACED. YOU WILL NOT GET THE SAME LOYALTY, DEDICATION, AND COMMITMENT FROM OTHERS LIKE WE GET FROM OUR CURRENT TEACHERS........

ReplyMaybe there should be an investigation of the senior administration not the teachers.
Most large companies and firms have their executives take cut in bonus, options, and other benefits. Why dont the senior administration of D112.
The teachers are the ones taking their time and effort from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening educating your children and if this isnt worth 100K or more than you have no interest in your childs future.
How much is in D112 funds and reserves compared to out neighboring suburbs. Interesting how noone running for public office in HP is voicing their opinion on these matters. Are they to scared to tarnish their reputation or image...hmmmm...

ReplyDavid, if your spouse is a teacher my sympathy goes out to her. I would love to know if her district went on strike how you would support her. I would love to know her feelings and thoughts on your respect for teachers.
You have no respect for teachers or what they do. If you dont find value in their job, and dont believe theyre worth every penny they ask leave HP.
Youre comments are some of the worse I have ever seen conveyed toward teachers.
I sincerely hope there is no link to you (David) putting out ads for new teachers. You have no right to not support the teachers that educate your children, and since you dont support them in D112 maybe you should find a new residence in some rural area where you can control the finances......

ReplyI'm a victim of a private school from many years ago, but i respect our teachers and all of the employees for their effort for District 112. What i find ignorant is you believing that teachers make an average of over $100K, and this will double. If you don't respect our teachers, our school system, or the people that educate your children than leave.
Its a free country. Highland Park prides themselves in having the most skilled and educated teachers in the North Shore, and if you don't support or endorse this, LEAVE. Maybe you should home school your children if you could a better job.
It's ignorance like this that our public servants are not taken care of. There should be no price or dollar amount on any teacher that educates your children and prepares them for the future.
Again, if you believe you can do this your self go right ahead....
DISTRICT 112 DOES NOT NEED RESIDENTS SUCH AS YOUR SELF THAT DONT SUPPORT THEIR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL SYSTEM.
SO PLEASE KEEP YOUR IGNORANT COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK TO YOURSELF.
SINCERELY,
ALL OF HIGHLAND PARK.

ReplyTo John Sullivan:
Exactly where do you see money doubling every 7 years. Your comments and financial forecast for teachers at 50 and 60 is ignorant and disrespectful that i hope you have no children in District 112.
