ReplyAK & Walter:
Must be fun to hide behind fictitious names and make nonsensical comments that have little value or relevance to anyone but yourselves! LOL! Wish I could continue to comment but this is the stage where theses become personal attacks, off subject and ridiculous banter for the most part.
Thanks again to the students that were on the side of reason and common sense!

ReplyCongratulations to all who worked to develop and to pass the referendum. "Community" includes all members within said community. This was an important step for the community reaffirming a commitment to the future. Fortunately, we live in a country where everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinion on all sides of an issue. There is no winning and losing team but rather a communal commitment for the future that was duly vetted and approved in the process of democratic discourse and voting.
Our community will face other important challenges in the future and one would hope that the same process will bring about results beneficial to the entire community.
It is admirable to see students embrace and become active participants within their community. Our community has the good fortune of having a significant portion of our adult population including community leaders, that grew up here as students.

ReplyThank you to all of the candidates who ran unselfishly to serve the community! Congratulations to those that won!
A large thank you to those that spent the last 18 months formulating the D113 referendum and to those that coordinated and worked so hard for it's passage.
It looks like the community upheld it's values and commitment to the future of our High School facilities. I thank you and my two future HPHS students thank you! -

Likely their Return on Investment is dependent on ensuring the lowest possible expense on several levels. Therefore, they would oppose anything that could raise that expense by a dollar. A position they are welcome to have but one that shows they no interest in the children or community where they make their rental income.
The argument they say is that they will have to raise rents. If you look at their property taxes, it seems unlikely that the rent would raise more than perhaps $5 a month on those particular properties. Now, if they choose to use it as an excuse to raise rents dramatically, they run the risk of forcing out the current inhabitants and eventually putting themselves into the position that they would actually have to invest in improvements in order to rent to a client that could or would rent.

Dr Parker:
Forgive me as if you are really Dr Parker, you would likely be a highly educated individual. However, I simply miss the point of "kids do not pay real estate taxes"? How exactly does that even relate?
I certainly pay my share of property taxes as do all of the people that worked hard on this referendum over the last year and a half. EVERY candidate or elected official in our community likely pays taxes and they all support the Referendum.
The fat lady sings at 7 pm and we shall see what the community decides. Vote YES

Hopefully, we will feel good as I believe the community will get it right. Our children and our community today and into the future deserve this. So "voted No 2013", whomever that is, cloaked in the safety of annominity, the Barbieri's supported the referendum

Glad to see you sticking with it and the Tapas idea if done right could be a winner. Sounds affordable and if you get the product and service down with a Tapas revamp it could be a winner.
Appreciate that you did not say Benjamin's was pure genius and that HP simply did not get it, as another second chance restaurant did:)
We will definitely try it out with the family.
Ed:
Abigail's and other long standing establishments have a quality product, reasonable prices, excellent service and the personal touch. As you know even with that, it is a tough business but those remain the basics for success.
