AM Kelly I was just chatting with my mother yesterday about anti-Semites and the comments they make. And then I was in line at starbucks and I swear on everything that is good to me, two women were talking in front of me and they said can you believe how many goy are moving into HP? What does that make them? Double standard perchance?

Kelly, I have to agree with you. I have lived in HP my whole life and the elitist attitude that some of these people project and then pass on to their kids is embarrassing. Maybe, though, they were talking about the driving. Many drivers in HP seem to think that the Stop Sign is just a suggestion not an actual law. :)

ReplyHow about an affordable restaurant. While I enjoy Walker Brothers they charge to much for an omelet (and everything else on their menu). I am afraid that HP does not want to have an affordable restaurant, especially on that side of the tracks. While I appreciate the aesthetic improvements Mr. Hillman takes, I think you have to market yourself to more people. Yes, rent is high, but there has to be a happy medium. What about along the line of Chiefs Pub in LF? Vibe may be the only bar in town and they charge more than most bars.

@Angela: We have been doing this for over 20 years. Our favorite place in McHenry closed years ago and we have not found anything it's equal. We are trying Ben's this year

ReplyWe did not have much luck at Sullivan's or Gengel's. I think we need to go out farther where people have more property. I am headed back out to McHenry County. We have had the best luck out there.

ReplyI am voting for Daniel Kaufman. A good father, businessman, and a great representative for our town.

Molly: I was just at the beach and thinking the same thing. Next time I need a tree lopped or chopped down I am not going to get a permit and just point to this instance as precedence. This town and it's double standards have made me crazy. I voted for Mayor Rotering and I am finding that she is no different than our past mayors and it is who you know and the amount of money you have. This tree incident - The Ruosso incident and I am sure there is more that has not made it to the paper.

That fountain is beyond silly - it is dangerous. Have you noticed that the water spills all over the sidewalk. I am waiting for the first slip and fall lawsuit to be filed once someone goes down on the slippery sidewalk.

@DavidGreenberg. I loved Woolworths after the grilled cheese sandwiches was the square "scoop" of ice cream in those little silver bowls. Ahhhh the good old HP.
