On the article Your Turn: Vote for Patch Athlete of the Week

Greg,
I see the spelling mistakes under Michael Zadlo and have e-mailed the editor to have them fixed. I can assure you that I give the same attention to detail for every article I write. It was merely a spelling error I didn't catch myself. I had spelled the name correctly in the dek, bold name and poll. 3 out of 5 is still unacceptable and I will make sure to do a more thorough review next week.

On the article Patch's Football Rankings - Week 6

Keith,
Understandable. They would probably lose to every school on this list because of the size of the school. But these are power rankings and I try and rate them based on how formidable they are within their divisions of play. And right now, with North Shore being undefeated and just crushing opponents, you have to give them some respect. I can't just rank them last every week because they are a small school. Thanks for reading though.

On the article Marist Saw More Than Enough of Nazareth's Running Game

I do recognize the fact that those chants existed. And even as someone who was part of those high school and college student sections, I never liked that chant. But I don't think it was that important to be put in my story. Best thing is to bring this up with the Nazareth administration. Thanks for reading.

Asked him that very question right afterwards. He said they were about five seconds away from being able to take a knee and run the clock out.

ReplyFrank,
A couple explanations as to our rankings. I may have been born in California, but have spent the past six years in the North Shore. I've come to know these programs very well and wouldn't attempt to rank them if I didn't.
As far as who we include in the rankings, we only include teams that our Patch sites cover on a consistent basis. Unfortunately Maine East and Notre Dame don't draw enough interest from our audience so we don't cover their athletic teams. I should include North Shore Country Day, but it's tough to rank them accurately when they are a small school that doesn't play any of the bigger teams. I will try to include them though in future weeks
When I submitted the rankings last night, ESPN Chicago had not come out with their updated rankings so it was accurate at the time of publication, but we should change that now.
Thanks for your feedback. I hope this clears up some misunderstanding about what we're trying to do with the power rankings and hope you continue to read (and comment).

On the article Jersey Guide: Chicago Bears 2011 Season

ReplyJeff,
I want to see Roy Williams prove he can be a big-time wide receiver before I buy his jersey. Especially since he's new to the Bears. Also, as great as Devin Hester is, I just don't see him as a full-time WR and buying a jersey of a punt returner only is like getting one of a placekicker. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks Israel. I don't know what I was thinking. Obviously I linked to an Urlacher #54 jersey and mentioned that he was #54 later in the paragraph. Copy editors must have missed it as well.

ReplySorry guys. Just a typo. Obviously I linked to an Urlacher 54 jersey and mentioned him as No. 54 later on in the paragraph. Thanks for pointing it out.

On the article New Trier's Top 10 Sports Moments of 2010-2011

Jeff,
Very true. I may have skipped over that one in my rankings. That's the "problem" with New Trier, there are just too many good sports moments that you are bound to forget one. Certainly that would've made the Top 10.

What is the other error in this article? Maybe I'm just blind to it because I wrote the piece, but I can't seem to find another error. Please let us know.
